Run rate vs. expected. Three wickets inside the fielding circle usually means the captaincy sits inside the top-three batters, not the bowlers.
Overs 7 to 15
Where spinners and slow-left orthodox begin to out-score the pacers on fantasy points. We watch the matchup, not just the wickets column.
Last five overs
Death-economy differential. A bowler conceding under 8 rpo at the death is worth more captaincy than a 40-run batter on a flat track.
